For me, textiles are more than functional materials; they are systems of connection. I see the structure of textiles as closely related to the way we attempt to understand life itself — through the intertwining of separate elements that together form a larger whole.
I explore how patterns and structures found in nature can be translated into tactile forms and material experiments. Roots, fungi, veins, waves, erosion and growth patterns continuously inspire me because they reveal that no form of life exists in isolation. Nature is built through networks, repetition, rhythm and interdependence — principles that are also fundamental within textile construction.
NADIE BORGGREVE
During my third year at Academie Artemis, I interned with textile artist Nadie Borggreve for six months, working with wool, natural dyeing and large-scale textile processes.
I assisted in dyeing secondhand wool and contributed to a four-month tapestry project, while developing my own naturally dyed, hand-knitted bonnets.
The experience sparked a deeper interest in the technical and chemical processes behind dyeing, as well as fibre development, reclaimed materials and experimental textile practices.
The bonnets were later exhibited and sold at W139.
